I think Gio and Stras are locks to make it. While I certainly think Desmond and LaRoche are deserving, I think there’s too much competition at their positions and they’ll be left out. If Harper sets the league on fire for the next month I think the manager (Mike Matheny?) will select him. He’s the future of the sport and despite the reluctance of baseball lifers to give young guys any credit at all, I think he’s worthy of a nod. Wouldn’t be shocked to see Stammen in there. He’s been lights out.

I am going with Desmond, LaRoche, & Gio. I think Gio has a good chance to start the game for the National league. Since managers pick the pitchers I think they have to go with a guy who has been virtually unhittable.

Yeah without Harper on the ballot that’ll make the whole “fan voting” thing a little tougher. Of course, if he’s on that final pick ballot after all but one slots are filled, I’d think he’d have a great shot of winning it. IF he’s on that.

My guess is that we have zero position players that make it. Harper’s not on the ballot and won’t get enough write-in votes to matter. So that leaves pitchers, which are manager’s discretion as opposed to fickle fan voting. Gio and Strasburg are the picks. Zimmermann is too under-the-radar, middle relievers are tough to pick, and our late-inning guys havn’t exactly been stellar.
